Howard Goodner


Howard Goodner, born 3–2–1924, Etowah, Tennessee.  Was in US Air Force, World War II.  Killed 4–21–1945 in B – 24 bombing mission over Regensburg, Germany.  Single.  Son of Miles Ernest Goodner and Callie E. Howard.  Howard had the misfortune of being aboard the last American bomber shot down over Germany during the Second World War.  His story has been retold by Stephen E. Ambrose in The Wild Blue and by his nephew, Thomas Childers, originally of Cleveland, Tennessee, in Wings of Morning.  Please select the book cover graphics below for more information on these two volumes honoring Howard and the men who served with him.
